FPLMTO_2009 &RSPT
REGISTRATION IS OPEN
The annual workshop is at its 4th edition and the Organizers (Patrizia Monachesi&Olle Eriksson, togheher with the "RSPt-founder" John Wills) think it will have still much to say.
As a matter of fact, FPLMTO&RSPt appears in the 2009 CECAM programme @EPFL-Lausanne, as "sponsored event" (link above). Close members of the RSPt community and participants to past editions do not need further description of the effectivness and fruitfulness of the Workshop. For other interested people, current or future visitors of this site a few more words may be not misspent.
"How further can the potentiality of FPLMTO-RSPt be stretched ? Which are the intrinsic (e.g.
underlying theory, structure of the method ) and practical (e.g. parallelizablity, numerical accuracy, interface-ability with other tools) obstacles or ultimate limitations to more ambitious projects ? The community of developers and heavy users gather in the workshop to answer
these questions in an uncommonly interactive, self-upgrading and open-to-external-input way. RSPt, currently at its 144-beta-release, is in continuous evolution. The 2007 (Belém, Brazil) and 2008 (Albuquerque, New Mexico) , have succesfully enucleated
key points of the above questions and started to give them an efficient framework for solutions. The meeting format turned out to be very succesful: a genuine forum of interacting experts-novices where to point out real progresses and difficulties, making it a solving-problem place for all participants at any level and a occasion of know-how transfer and training for young researchers. There are many drive levers that may be used and added to enhance significantly the efficiency and reach out of FPLMTO-RSPt simulation apparatus. Still many people might be involved in joining the program. "
The workshop will not have parallel sessions. Practical sessions for FPLMTO-RSPt novices will be integral part of the meeting. For a fruitful attendance we suggest applicants to
be somewhat familiar with DFT and related topics.
REGISTRATION is FEE-free. Please e-send a motivation letter, including a very short CV with current activity description, to the local Organizer) . A finantial support for PH students and young Post-docs is foreseen (except travel expenses). The number of participants is limited to 50.
More details are currently available at the cecam link above. A detailed and event-updated Workshop HOMEPAGE will be shortly available.
See you in L'Aquila
